The Fellowship is a voluntary internship with Island Innovation. The program allows interns to gain valuable experience working in a social enterprise within the sustainable development sector. 

 

We are a fully virtual company that accepts applications from all over the world. We welcome all candidates, including those currently living on islands or in remote and rural regions.

How you will contribute

Fellowship Project

We will co-create a fellowship project for you, considering your skills, interests and the company's needs. You will be responsible for planning and executing your fellowship project, counting on the guidance and support of the Island Innovation team. You will have the opportunity to present your results to the team and showcase the impact of your work.

Digital Marketing & Communications

Good communication is essential at Island Innovation. As a fellow, you may be required to support our team with content creation, research tasks, or reports. In addition, you might have the opportunity to contribute to our social media channels, blog, newsletter, website and events.

Project Management

We may ask you to support the Directors and Project Managers in planning and coordinating events, webinars, and marketing projects. You may also have the opportunity to contribute to our Ambassador Program and to get involved with campaigns for our clients.

Application

Desirable qualifications and experienceEach candidate will be reviewed based on their previous work experience, support of the Island Innovation mission and the current team requirements at Island Innovation.Core skills required of fellows:
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English (other languages are beneficial but not required);
  • Interest in development, climate, environment and/or sustainability;
  • Ability to create engaging content for the company’s social media pages (e.g. original text, photos, etc.);
  • Ability to create high-quality written content, such as blog posts and reports;
  • Ability to plan and execute tasks in a timely manner;
  • Organizational skills and extreme attention to detail;
  • Excellent working knowledge of Google Docs Tools;
  • Ability to work remotely with confidence.
Your commitmentThe fellowship requires an investment of our time. There are three formats available:
  • 6 month fellowship with a commitment of 10 hours per week
  • 3 months with an commitment of 25 hours per week
  • 2 month fellowship with a commitment of 30 hours per week

Please note this is an unpaid and temporary position.
