About Sarah Forster
I joined the Island Innovation team in June 2020. My role involves managing the conference programmes for our virtual events, including the Virtual Island Summit and the Island Finance Forum. Additionally, I work on our media and PR activities which involves curating partnerships, outreach and writing communications, both for Island Innovation and for our client EnergyX.
What I love most about Island Innovation is working in an international team who are all brilliant at what they do and all share a passion for sustainability. It is very rewarding to be a part of a team that promotes sustainable development and is involved in projects that are helping to make a positive impact on a global scale.
Since studying Media & English at the University of Surrey I have worked in the events industry. My roles have involved working on a variety of events and exhibitions in the fields of oceanology, rotorcraft and renewable energy, all with a link to promoting sustainability and a greener future.
After living and working in London for a number of years, in 2020 I moved back to Dorset with my partner and daughter. I grew up in Dorset surrounded by fields, and have fond memories of living in the countryside close to the ocean. I’m thrilled I can raise my family here.
Surprising fact: I was a “runner” on an ITV programme exploring the changes the seasons bring to the British landscape.

Giving visibility to projects worldwide
Our flagship event, the Virtual Island Summit, is one of the biggest events for sustainable development. Every year, it brings together over 10,000 stakeholders from around the world for a week-long virtual event covering every timezone.
