Understanding and preparing young people for the skills needed in future is a challenge globally, but the island context presents some different challenges and opportunities – typically a restricted range of sectors, a smaller volume of young people needing to train making economies of scale a challenge, plus the risk and reward of young people leaving the island (and perhaps returning) to develop wider skills. In this session we’ll hear about exciting examples from different islands of a renewed focus on understanding and developing the skills young people need for their future life and work.
